It was all flying balls and spinning plates at the Haynie Library Wednesday, when Ringling Bros. clown Dim Twitly came to kick off “Reading with Ringling Bros.”
Over eighty children laughed and applauded as Twitly, a “trained professional goofball,” juggled balls, balanced a chair on his chin, held spinning plates above his head and did magic tricks.
After his performance, Twitly read “Olivia Saves the Circus” to the children, then handed out DVDs, clown noses and coloring sheets.
Twitly’s visit initiated this summer’s program of “Reading with Ringling Bros.” The children each received a card to track their reading progress. Every five hours, they can bring the card in to the library to have it stamped. If they read 25 hours before the circus comes to the BOK Center in Tulsa, they can receive a free ticket to the circus.
