ABOUT THE AUTHOR

This new playground was completed in April in the City Park North of Hwy 62. The equipment was purchased using a grant through the Oklahoma Department of Commerce, Century Community Program.

The City, in cooperation with Main Street, applied for the grant and was awarded $75,000. The money was used to purchase the playground and construct the new fence along Hwy 62. The fence is intended to be both decorative and inviting while providing a safe area for children to play within.

The fence was designed and built by Bobby Ripley, while the brick columns were built by Joe Podest. The playground equipment was installed by City employees. Our City Park is one of the things most people remember when visiting our community and we want to continue to make improvements for all ages.

Within our park we offer two playgrounds, volleyball courts, horseshoes, basketball, tennis courts, lighted walking trail, restrooms, picnic pavilions, ball fields, a swimming pool, a gazebo, a veteran’s memorial, our centennial clock, rose garden, etc.
