Prague children took a trip to India, ancient Greece and the rain forest last Thursday, all without leaving town.
Professional storyteller Barbara Jones visited the Haynie Library for the third week of “Catch the Reading Bug,” the library's summer reading program. She entertained the children with stories about bugs helping to rescue the sun in India, the origin of spiders in ancient Greece and attacks of army ants in the rain forest.
“When army ants start moving, all the other bugs and animals run away,” Jones told the children. “They know the ants can kill them.”
Next week will be the last week of the reading program. Local beekeeper Missy Husted will come talk to the children about raising honeybees and will bring an observation hive to let children see how bees make honey. The program will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday in the meeting room of the library.
